Washburn Island Clean-Up 2026

On April 25th and 26th, 2026 volunteers came together, under the leadership and coordination of Kelsey Marie, to clean up our island. Over 705 pounds of garbage were collected from our ditches, parks and public spaces.

Doing this during earth week saved us the $50+ tipping fee as the city covered that amount.

There was also over 300 cans and bottles empties returned totalling nearly $35 for the Little Britain Community Food Bank!

Thank you to all our volunteers and helpers, and to the City of Kawartha Lakes for providing gloves, bags and waiving tipping fees for the garbage collected!
